Thank you for a fantastic session, Precious Plastic! Bill was a wonderful presenter who had the kids engaged immediately in a hands-on investigation of recycling plastic.
Kids had the opportunity to experience a scaled down version of the recycling process where they worked as teams to process material from rubbish to something useful using the PP's specialised equipment. The students LOVED using the tools and making and creating with this project.
We built our literacy and RE program around sustainability and being stewards of the earth and participation in this incursion lined up perfectly with our learning objectives. In Literacy, our Year 5 group focused on The Last Bear by Hannah Gold and Bill was familiar with the text and even worked some discussion about the book into his content. This made for deep connections to our learning across a multitude of areas of our curriculum.
